With its unique exterior look which is really non-Japanese, the structure design of the Art Museum is itself the artistic masterpiece of its founder Itchiku Kubota. The building is built with the Ryukyu limestome which is formed from the lava of Mt. Fuji
If you wondered what is exhibited in the Art Museum, it is not the famous painting as you might have suspected.
The Art Museum is dedicated to exhibit the life work of Itchiku – that is the Kimonos (Japanese traditional costume) that is dyed with a special technique called “Itchiku Tsujigahana” technique that takes Itchiku 20 years to perfect it.
Besides the out-of-the-world Kimonos masterpieces exhibited in the main hall, the settings and ambient of the whole museum and its surrounding areas are very “Zen” like, and it is really a relaxing place to visit with you come to Kawaguchiko
